Summer waxing tips
We never get tired of saying that waxing is not only a beauty routine that we have to follow in summer when we tend to bare a lot more skin, but also, for us, a skincare ritual that we need to stay on top of all year round.
Nevertheless, we shouldn't forget that summer means a rise in temperatures, a change in humidity, an increase in sun exposure as well as other variable factors that have an impact on our body and skin. For this reason, just like how we adapt our face and body skincare creams to each season, we can also adapt our waxing routine.
Keep an eye on your moisture levels: to keep your skin hydrated, don't forget to drink at least two litres of water a day and apply a body moisturiser at least once a day. Moisturised and healthy skin is easier to wax and helps prevent the potential harmful effects of hair removal. Your ally, Soothing Cream: with Aloe Vera, which soothes skin, and beige pigments that blend skin tone.
Exfoliate once or twice a week: this stimulates the cell regeneration process, helps obtain an even tan and prevents folliculitis. The texture of the skin will be smoother, allowing the wax to attach better to the hair.
Forget razors: this goes for all year round, although the heat and sweat in summer can leave your skin prone to infections and cuts caused by shaving.
Start using waxes with a lower melting point and average drying time, such as our traditional Chlorophyll or Azulene waxes or our roll-on format. The benefits of using these types of waxes is that you don't have to let the hair grow like with other hot waxes, they are more refreshing and don't open pore so wide, meaning skin recovers faster after removal. Always ask the beautician at your salon to recommend the best Depilève wax suited to your skin type, area to wax, season of the year, etc.
Avoid exposure to the sun 48 hours before waxing and 48 hours after treatment. This will avoid possible skin blemishes and reactions that are common with over-sensitised skin.
For 24 hours after waxing, try to wear clothes made of natural fabrics such as cotton or linen, as they more breathable and minimise the risk of allergies and irritation.
Plan your salon appointments in time so that you don't have to worry about hair on your holidays.
