FAQ's: Depilève answers (I)
How long does the hair have to be before I can get waxed? The hair should be at least 1/4-inch to 1/2-inch for best results. Let the hair grow for at least seven days. If you feel your hair is too long, ask your waxologist to trim it to the appropriate length. It may take up to three waxing treatments to achieve smooth skin due to the fact that hair grows in stages and all of your hair is never at the same stage. It is very important to avoid shaving between waxing appointments, as this will interrupt the process and stimulate the hair growth again.
Should I shave my hair before I get waxed? Nooo!!! The longer the hair, the better the wax will grab it and the smoother your results will be. Remember, if it is too long trimming ask for trimming. So don’t worry, be hairy!
How often should I get my waxing treatment? Every four weeks. Regular waxing is essential. The skin will be less sensitive if waxing is done every 4 weeks. Over time, with regular waxing, the hair follicle will have less and less of a grip on the hair to be pulled and the hairs will come out more easily. Another reason to wax frequently is that you may even experience less hair growth over time.
How long does body waxing take? Each area needs 10 to 20 minutes. Depends on your waxing habits the more you’ve waxed, the faster it can be done.
How long before the hair grows back?Okay, this is a tricky one because when it comes to the hair re-growth cycle we are not all created equal. Everyone’s hair grows at different rates, sometimes depending on ethnicity. However every four weeks is the most popular length of time between waxes.
Will my hair grow back thicker and darker? No. Waxing pulls the hair from the follicle weakening the root. So, if anything it will grow back weaker, more sparse and easier to remove next time.
Will my hair stop growing back all together? No, but it will become more sparse and have a finer texture if you wax on a regular basis.
